چکیده

flECENT INVESTIGATIONS by Markert and Moeller1 and Wieland and 1 Pfieiderer2 have shown by electrophoresis that lactic dehydrogenase ( LDH ) occurs in multiple molecular forms, with certain molecular species of the enzyme being present in greater amount in certain tissues. The electrophoretic form which we call isozyme I ( see fig. 1 ) predominates in extracts of heart muscle while the isozyme V predominates in extracts of liver and skeletal muscle. The present study was established to characterize the lactic dehydrogenase present in chronic lymphocytic leukemic cells and to determine if the enzyme differed quantitatively or qualitatively from the LDH of nonleukemic leukocytes.

DNA polymerase and carbohydrate metabolizing enzyme content of normal and leukemic glass column separated leukocytes.

S TUDIES OF THE enzyme content of leukocytes reported in the past’9 have been performed on mixed cell suspensions. Some attempts to estimate the enzyme values for individual cell types have been made2, 3. 8 on the basis of complex calculations after multiple assays of mixed cell suspensions with varied cell differential counts. The technic of separation of leukocytes on glass bead 12 now permit...

Malic and Lactic Dehydrogenase Isozymes of Normal and Leukemic Leukocytes Separated on Glass Bead Columns

IN A RECENT STUDY’ of the enzyme content of normal and leukemic leukocytes separated on glass bead columns, it was shown that meaningful comparisons could not I)e made with mixed cell populations. The work of l)ioguardi et . 2-1I iiidicates that this also holds true for assays of lactic dehydrogenase ( LDH ) isozymes. Comparison, for example, of lymphatic leukemia cells with norinal nlixed leuk...

Energy metabolism of human leukemic lymphocytes and granulocytes.

With the technical assistance of Clarence Ellis M ANY DIVERGENT RESULTS have been published concerning the energy metabolism of human leukemic leukocytes. This subject has been extensively reviewed by Seelich.’ Leukemic lymphocytes have variously been reported to have low or absent aerobic glycolysis, low to high respiration, and low to high anaerobic glycolysis. Leukemic granulocytes have been...
